Interestingly, things seem to have slowed down at the Torpedo Factory this month. On the bright side - more time to make pretty things. Hope you're all having a great summer so far and managing to stay cool in this crazy heat. xoxo, -Diana
We've been quiet because not much has been happening other than the usual studio days. We do have a show coming up in Old Town, Alexandria on June 7th! Volunteer Alexandria is putting it on and it will be from 10 to 5 at Waterfront Park. I will be sharing a booth with my friend Christina and her children's books. If you are in town, stop on by! Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
Spring is finally here and I'm planning the first of one of the few outdoor shows of the year. I've gotten too cozy in my studio and have decided that I prefer staying indoors with predictable weather to not knowing what to expect at an outdoor show. However, this one (Mosaic District in NoVA) is so close to where I live I couldn't resist! If you are in the area, please stop by and find me. I'm there both days. Crossing fingers for good weather. Thank you all for your support. xo, -Diana
Because our studio space is small, having a kiln at the studio isn't quite feasible, so I have to find time to make components at home and then put everything together at the studio. I try to have at least one day at home a week for that, but then it's hard not to get sucked into other tasks! That's a good problem to have, I know. I'm counting my blessing for being able to do this for as long as I can (with a side-job, like many artists). Thank you to all who have been supportive along the way. -Diana
January took forever, it seems, but now that February is here, I can almost smell spring around the corner. Things are picking up slowly again at the Torpedo Factory and we're gearing up for Valentine's day. Thank you all for your support and I do hope to see you one day at our studio 227.
I can't believe it's been over a month since I moved into studio 227 at the Torpedo Factory. January is much slower, unsurprisingly, which has allowed me to populate the empty spaces with new work. If you are ever in Old Town, Alexandria - please stop by! Xoxo, -Diana
Happy New Year! What an amazing month it has been since I moved into studio 227 at the Torpedo Factory. Though it has been an adjustment with scheduling and not having as much time at home, it is an absolute dream come true so far. My mate Lynn of "Now Brace Yourself" has been wonderful and welcoming, and it's been great to be able to keep our doors open most of the week between the two of us taking turns there. Should you find yourselves in the area, please stop by. In the meantime, here is to a fresh start and a great year ahead for all.
Fewer blank spots at the studio - things are coming along! If you ever find yourself at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, please pop by studio 227. Either my mate Lynn or I should be there. One last show coming up at the Del Ray Artisans the last weekend of December and that will be a wrap! Much love to all, -Diana
It's finally happening! I'll be moving into a shared studio at the Torpedo Factory on 12/6 - woohoo! My mate Lynn and I will be in studio 227. It's too small of a space for me to be able to move in my kiln, but I'll still be able to do some jewelry work while there. For now, I will keep work at the Van Landingham Gallery 311, so I'll have 2 places at the TF for my jewelry! Plus, the VLG will have my 2 D work as well, depending on space. So thrilled for this new chapter. Thank you all for your support along the way. -Diana
Still waiting on paperwork for the shared studio at the Torpedo Factory and it's killing me! I'm not a patient soul, alas. On the plus side, my work is still at the Van Landingham Gallery #311 on the 3rd floor of the TF. My last show of the year is going to be at the Del Ray Artisans. They have different artisans every weekend for the 3 weekends in December. I'm going to be there the last weekend (weekend 3) AND so is my mom (Karine Sapondjian) with her artwork! It'll be her first time participating in a show, so we're excited all around. More info here: https://delrayartisans.org/event/holiday-market-2024/ Hope you'll stop by for some holiday shopping or just to say hello! Thank you all for your support, as always. -Diana
If you happen to be in the Ft. Belvoir area on November 23rd, I'd love to see you at the Mt. Vernon Unitarian Holiday Shop 9:30-4! This is my second to last actual show for the year. https://mvuc.org/activities-and-groups/holiday-shop/ While waiting for paperwork to go through to share a studio at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, I've been slowly moving in a few displays. Crossing fingers everything comes through before December. In the meantime, the Van Landingham Gallery 311 (3rd floor to the right of the stairs) at the Torpedo Factory will continue to have my jewelry, even when I have a studio. We have jewelry, art, cards, and even stickers - something for just about anyone. Please feel free to stop by between 10-6 when the building is open. Sometimes they have special events and close early, so you can check the hours on the Torpedo Factory website. Thank you all for your support! -Diana
Oof...the weeks are flying by, aren't they? Just wrapped up the West Potomac HS show and now busy trying to create enough inventory for my last two markets of the year. Next up (second to last show of the year!) is the Mt. Vernon Unitarian Church Holiday market on 11/23, 10-4. For more information, please visit: https://mvuc.org/activities-and-groups/holiday-shop/ And as always, you can find my work at Torpedo Factory's Van Landingham Gallery #311 during the usual 10-6 open hours. Thank you for all your support. -Diana
I'm frantically trying to balance making inventory for shows and filling a wholesale order that just came in - yikes but yay! If you can make it to the West Potomac HS show this Saturday, the 26th 10-3, I'd love to see you! I'll be sharing a booth with my friend, Tiffany, who is the owner of Nomad Blue Studios (recommended shop). If you can't make it to this show, you can find my work at the Torpedo Factory's Van Landingham Gallery 311 (3rd floor). Our November group show, "Cornucopia" will be up November 1. You'll find 2D and 3D artwork, jewelry, cards, and even stickers - something for everyone!
Art on the Avenue was a success! Next show on the list in October is: Woodson High School in Alexandria, VA - October 26 10-3 And don't forget that you can always find some of my jewelry at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, at the Van Landingham Gallery on the 3rd floor, #311! Thank you for all your support.
